Former Client Yared S. Returns to The McKenna Center
Yared first came to the McKenna Center in 2008, having come to the US from Ethiopia to care for his mother, who lived here. Yared entered the Hypothermia Transition Program and worked closely with Cortez to navigate Catholic Charities’ Legal Immigration Services process and establish legal residence in the US.
With the McKenna Center’s help, Yared found housing and employment, and has found great success in his life over the past years. When Yared experienced a workplace injury early last year, he knew he could come back to us for help – and is currently working with Cortez and Board Member Dan Collopy to pursue worker’s compensation.
Yared’s story, like many others, is a great example of the success awaiting graduates of our Hypothermia program. We’re happy to have him around the Center again and are excited to see what comes next for him.
