St. Norbert University and the University of Scranton Join Us for Winter Immersion Service Learning Programs

This January we welcomed two groups of college students through the McKenna Center’s Immersion Service Learning Program! The students, who typically join us for 5-7 days, spend their nights at the Center and support our Day Shelter, Food Pantry, and Hypothermia Transition Programs during their time with us.

What makes immersion a unique learning experience is the downtime that the students spend with our guests. Over the week, participants build friendships with and gain perspective from our clients – humanizing the struggles our guests face and deepening their understanding of the day-to-day realities of the communities we serve.

We’re excited to welcome more groups to join us throughout the year, and to continue building our relationships with St. Norbert University and the University of Scranton. If you’re interested in participating in an immersion trip, reply to this email and we would be happy to work with you to schedule one!
